Memorial Brick Tiles

Maltby Miners Memorial Community Group are proud to announce since being advertised to the public the brick tiles are doing really well.

In case you haven't heard the brick tiles are a way of incorporating the names of all those who worked at Maltby Colliery, either under ground, on the pit top, the nurses, the canteen staff or in the offices even if they worked on the busses to Maltby's unique pit bus service to the lasting memorial to be built on the high street to mark Maltby was once a thriving Pit village.

At this moment in time the group made the decision to restrict it to the above groups until we have a firm number of bricks and to make sure the memorial is kept to exactly what it says on the tin "Maltby Miners Memorial" this being said we are open to suggestions and will discuss these at our meetings .

As a group we would love to have been able to pay for those who lost their lives at the pit unfortunately there are so many and we have no available funds to do this, we did offer to try to cover the cost of those who are still entombed in the pit however the family members have declined and wish to pay for their loved ones brick tiles themselves, we also have the very befitting memorial on Limekiln Lane for those men still down Maltby Pit.
